Talking Out takes etc

Are there any Yes fans out there? You may have noticed that the classic Yes albums have been re-released. More than a cynical attempt to exploit their acquisition of the publishing rights, the label have released the discs with extensive sleeve notes and original artwork absent from the original releases. This is nothing, however, compared to the audio. The original music has been re-mastered, but...much more important...There are, included up to the maximum capacity, extensive studio demos and out takes. As Andy Partridge said of his Fuzzy Warbles collection, to see how the magic is done is as fascinating as the finished experience. I'm not sure how this would sit with the Floyd as part of their mystique rests on the paucity of product. "Treat them mean and keep them keen". That said, surely now would be the time to expose some of the magic. I mean, there must be literally tons of this stuff lying around. Just think of the lost human experience (as Roger would say) as a result of the public never getting to hear this stuff! Come on guys, show us some of the magic! This would also be an outstanding opportunity to remix the albums in SACD surround (like dark Side already has been). I am sure none of us would object. As Nick said about pulse: If you think we're just cashing in, don't buy it! Knowing how much of the Floyd profit goes to charity, I would have no concerns about such releases. The Yes albums I mentioned are more or less double the length of the original releases and feature a wide diversity of music. I think they represent outstanding value for money!
I mean, who would like a CD copy of "Point Me at the Sky" or the full studio takes of the extra music from "The Wall"? What about Snowy White's extra guitar bridge from "Animals" or the original seedy version of "Young Lust" that Roger talked about to Tommy Vance. The list is endless! Come on guys!

Re: Out takes etc

It's a fabulous idea that will inevitably be fulfilled soon after the remaining band members are dead — then the record execs will really start trawling the vaults.
