Wish You Were Here SACD

Anyone know anything about the SACD version of WYWH ? I have been out and purchased a SACD compatible DVD surround system specifically to play this album when I heard that James Guthrie was mixing the new version. The music stores don't even admit to knowing that SACD exists, never mind the WYWH release ! So sat in anticipation (and silence) I await the release of the masterpiece in surround SACD format. Anyone know when it's coming out ?

YOU HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY

SACD is a format of incredible quality but it doesn't get much support these days - sadly. Dark Side is just amazing on SACD but majors are currently supporting the so called Dual Disc and its mediocrity I do hope that Animals and WYWH will soon see the light of day on SACD format anyway.

With respect to how much money I have...... The whole system including connectors and six speakers including the decoder and DVD/SACD player worked out at the equivalent of $250 USD and I needed a new system anyway !!! What I meant was that I purchased this particular system because it is SACD compatible as well as being a DVD surround system. There are people who will pay this much just for the connecting cables !! Don't get me started on wealth !! It is tragic (and criminal) that we live in a world where people will pay over $100 for a small peculiarly shaped bottle containing 25ml of flavoured alcohol called perfume in a shop less than 2,000 miles from Ethiopia ! But that's another story....

The disc was supposed to come out last year for the 20th anniversary, they blew that opportunity.

When ????? Does anyone know when the SACD remix of WYWH will be released. It must be 2 years almost since I was first told it was being engineered. Furthermore, why don't they release the whole back catalog in this format. The rolling stones have done this. Being rich in textures and theatrical effects, the Floyd's music is perfectly suited to this medium!

Bad memory?

Premise: None of the Rolling Stones SACDs featured remixed material; the Floyd catalogue has already been remastered several times and the only way to actually justify an SACD release is to remix the material into 5.1 surround.

Quandary: Currently, David and Roger are too busy with their new solo projects to approve a surround mix of decades-old material. Hybrid SACD as a format is also losing support from Sony, who are hesitant at best to re-issue older material on it.

Conclusion: The project has been indefinitely delayed but may still see the light of day sooner or later. Topic locked until the situation improves or changes in any way.

It appears that the SACD version will be released separately from this campaign, as part of a side deal with indie label Acoustic Sounds. Great move by the Floyd!
