i feel like I am home..

I feel like I've been here all along. It's in my blood..For years I would go to sleep listening to Dark Side of the Moon; I would listen to it loudly, and slept through the clock sequence many, many times. I trained at Atascadero State Hospital, and once ran an Imagery group, working with Mentally Disturbed Sex Offenders. I decided to bring one of the albums I listen to when I relax at home. Only after everyone was lying on mats on the floor, listening to PF and relaxing with me, did I hear what I had not noticed so blantantly at home: "One of these days, I'm going to cut you into little pieces..". And some had.

Re: i feel like I am home..

I once tried to chill a guy out who had been caning it on speed for far, far too long and going over the apparent abuse that he had suffered when he was a youngster. I left him in a pal's room, listening to 'Collection of great dance songs' whilst I went to get him some orange juice or something, whilst 'Sheep' played on the tape player. When I came out of the kitchen downstairs, one of the girls staying in the room underneath suddenly ran out of her room and up the stairs and I realised that I could hear screaming (that terrible real type) coming from above. Unfortunately, the part of the song with the delayed vocals that reeeeeally slowly decay underneath the music had quite literally freaked the poor bugger out and he was now wild eyed and nonsensical, totally away with it. This went on for over an hour until we had to call an ambulance (on advice from a friends mum- a drug counsellor-via the 'phone). He was sedated and put on a heart monitor and there were dark mutterings of 'potential brain damage' (even though it's on a completely different album) and the police wanted to know about the "Irish guy" (Me, I presume) whom they thought was his dealer in all the confusion. The bloke, Keith, spent a bit of time in hospital but was seriously not the same when he came back to college; more of a deluded Barrett-alike who removed the door to the library or stole toy bows and arrows from the local shop or actually fished about in bins and alienated himself from everyone generally by being quite mental.

'Twas a grim time for him, I imagine.

I don't blame myself, because it would have happened sooner or later but I certainly won't be inviting the next drugged up doofus that I meet to listen to 'Animals' or indeed, any Floyd.

Have I got to trumpet my tedious B.Sweet and ANIMALS essay again to get the message across?

Warning! ANIMALS may make the tender, frail and/or sensitive listener's tender, frail and/or sensitive condition worse.

It's a true story.

But it's always a pleasure, never a chore.
