Re: Band o' da day!

Well, I haven't posted for awhile so this "band of the day" thing isn't going to work out. I think I'll go start a "Band of the Year" thread then I don't have to keep up asmuch

Guy Lombardo & His Royal Canadians

Guy Lombardo
Musical Memories
Hot and Sweet -- The Old Masters
Drifting and Dreaming/Dancing Room Only
Berlin by Lombardo
Guy Lombardo & His Royal Canadians
Guy Lombardo Medleys
Jingle Bells
Sing The Songs of Christmas
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Your Guy Lombardo Medley

Band logo: "The sweetest music this side of heaven"
signature song: Auld Lang Syne -- to this day, first song of the New Year played in Times Square.
trivia: Guy owned and raced high-powered speedboats. Won the 1946 APBA (American Power Boat Assn) Gold Cup.

Name origin: Since Guy was Canadian and all his band were Canadians, he thought the name was no-nonsense and to the point. Then he added the adjective "Royal", because "Guy Lombardo and His Canadians" just seemed to lack something. The rest is history.

Nine Inch Nails

Broken (1992)
Fixed (1992) (Remix album)
The Downward Spiral (1994) (Deluxe edition released 2004)
Further Down the Spiral (1995) (Remix album)
The Fragile (1999)
Things Falling Apart (2000) (Remix album)
And All That Could Have Been (2002) (Live DVD and bonus "Still" CD)
With Teeth (2005)
Beside You In Time (2007) (Live DVD/Blu-ray)
Year Zero (2007)
Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D (2007) (Remix album)
Ghosts I-IV (2008)

Recent song: "8 Ghosts I" from their new instrumental album, released on ghosts.nin.com
Older song: Their cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls" is pretty boss

The only constant band member, Trent Reznor, picked the name out of his notebook because it looked good and sounded aggressive.

Latest single: Warmer Than Hell -- Released in 2007 to help combat global warming. "They're not that environmentally conscious, but they've heard of global warming." said group spokesman Marty DeBergi. "Nigel thought it was just because he was wearing too much clothing – that if he just took his jacket off it would be cooler." The band played on the London leg of the SOS/Live Earth concert series. The band performed "Stonehenge", the aforementioned "Warmer Than Hell", and "Big Bottom" at Live Earth.

Trivia: In September 2002, the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary included the entry: "Up to eleven: up to maximum volume" a reference to Nigel's famous amplifier that had controls that went beyond the usual maximum setting of 10.
