| Re: UK Friends: Where is the Astoria? The venue, The Astoria, is near the intersection of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street in central (the "West End") London - it's actually IN Charing Cross Road, but the Centrepoint Tower dominates that area so Charing Cross Road is not very apparent. The Astoria ALWAYS hosts G.A.Y. on Friday nights to entertain the unfeasbily young London gay crowd - more like a gay creche than a disco - and I last saw Tangerine Dream there in 2004. This wasn't on a Friday night, of course. It's not the largest music hall in the world but if you get there and inside early enough you may be lucky to secure a gallery table opposite the bar upstairs where you can sit and drink and enjoy whatever show is on rather than standing up the whole damned evening. It is featured in the silly 2000 Brit film, "Kevin and Perry Go Large" depicted as some Balearic Island rave spot. I have no clue about any other Astoria in London. Do we have a Waldorf Astoria hotel here? Enjoy! Byron p.s. The Astoria in question is about a 15-minute walk to the Thames via St. Martins (in the Field), Trafalgar Square, Charing Cross and Embankment.

| Re: UK Friends: Where is the Astoria? According to a Nick Cave site, it is in Hampton-On-Thames. EDIT: Mayne sites says it's Hampton, Middlesex. If yot're using Google Earth, you'll probably be able to find it.

| Re: UK Friends: Where is the Astoria? London Astoria From Wikipedia The London Astoria is a music venue at 157 Charing Cross Road in London. It has been run by Mean Fiddler Music Group since 2000. It opened as a Crosse & Blackwell pickle factory and has been a music hall and a theatre. It is now exclusively a music venue with a capacity of 2,000. The Astoria is connected to the Mean Fiddler such that the two venues can function as a single venue where needed. By far its busiest nights are the G-A-Y promotions.

Silly me ... you'd think I'd learn with a cast of characters like the members of the APFFN... BoaB, although the London Astoria sounds like a ton of fun, I was actually referring to BDG's own Astoria (although maybe he's been to the one that you mention?) Thanks, as always, for your help, though! What was the saying you used to use? Always a pleasure, never a chore... ![]()
