I am not attempting to high-horse. I am merely frustrated at how easily people apparently succumb to television's decree that YOU PERSONALLY are the Reason for the Season.

Point taken. I didn't get that message from your first post, but I'll concede I didn't give it all that much thought - I didn't think you were mean, but it seemed angry to me. Nor do I detect a great deal of ME! ME! ME! in the posts I read, but I've already admitted my poor reading comprehension.

I'll submit two thoughts for consideration; one, hubris (in this context) is the mirror image of greed, and listing what one gave can be as bad as listing what one got.

Two, people can be happy about what they received without having to feel guilty, even if it does come with designer labels.

Perhaps I'm wrong in one or both of those beliefs, and they're of course freely offered for clinical dissection.

And I genuinely hope you had the holiday you wanted, and the pleasant new year you deserve.

Re: Christmas 06: What did you give?

In the interest of avoiding as much hand to hand combat as possible, I have already done most of my shopping...

I got my mother a manicure set, made my dad a paperweight-type thing from low-fire earthenware, and have gotten my best friend some earrings and an 'I <3 Pirates' sticker. I'm thinking of making everyone else something, probably sewing some blankets or something.

I'd like to get my nephew and I some matching red Chucks, but have been unable to brace myself for more shopping as of yet.

I work in one of the local malls, and people are absolutely rabid.
I'd be much happier if we scrapped the present thing altogether and just spent quality time with each other, but I guess you do what you can.

It's like that for me too. The whole concept of buying things with my money and just giving them away is just so sick.

Re: Christmas 06: What did you give?

Hm. I spent four hours in toy stores earlier this week, had a blast.

Now I just have to convince the wife that the Pleo robot is really for the kids, and not for me.

Lol, WVU fans were LIVID. And still are, for that matter.
Should be alright, though, the 'Eers have been doing pretty damn good this season.

Yeah, RP's my #9, I think.
