Hello Dolly

Steady chaps...I know you've all opened this thread thinking it was going to be a tribute to that fine musical featuring Carol Channing. No ! I'm saving that one for a later date...no, this thread has been prompted by the thread created by that Sintellins woman, which paid homage to Britney Shears. Well we all know what happened there, as soon as she got a thread on APFFN she went barking mad. Lots of celebrities go the same way...they just can't cope with it. I myself did a thread on Robbie Williams and look what happened to him!

Anyway, none of you Britney nonsense, this thread is dedicated to a real wholesome country girl, with some fine attributes ( no, not Paris Hilton) she's a fine C&W singer and all round good sport. I intend to visit Nashville sometime to say hello.

ladies and Gentlemen...I give you Dolly Parton

Re: Hello Dolly

Yeah, I've been to Dollywood, it was kind of boring. Where were a few rides, a joke shop, some other stuff. It was a long time ago.

In Spansih we say "gallina vieja hace buen caldo" which translates as "old hen makes good soup".

Yeah, there is a similar phrase over here which says ' you can make a good pan of soup from an old bird'.

Oh, I forgot, in the same town, there is a brass, anatomically correct statue of Dolly with which my grandpa had his picture taken.

Or breast reduction surgery. I can't believe you took this risk, after what's already happened.

Dolly doesn't deserve this.

Made of brass? Is there some Nashville/ C&W significance to using that particular metal? How do you know it was brass? Did you give the statue a good rub to find out? Do they have someone who gives it a good rub each day? Do any bits come up better than others? Oh...so many questions to ask!

Re: Hello Dolly

It looked brass, it could have been a less expensive metal, I didn't really check.
