Unhappy Search for Madeleine

Madeleine McCann disappeared a week ago in Algarve while her parents were at a restaurant.

Unfortunely, no new or few developments have taken place and cannot be sure that she is still alive.

1-What do you think about this tragic story?

2-What do you think has happened to the little girl?

3-Do you think the authorities will be able to find her?

4-Do you think the Portuguese police are doing enough to find Maddy?

5-Would you leave your children alone in a hotel room whilst you ate?

6-Do you think Maddy's parents were irresponsible for leaving their children alone?

Re: Search for Madeleine

5/6 - Of course I never let my child alone but I think Madeleine's parents are already punished with the guilt they are feeling until now. They made a mistake but I'm quite sure that we all make mistakes. They didn't commit a crime, they just made a bad judgement.

4 - I can assure you that they are doing more than they did to any other child that disapeared in Portugal.

I only hope she is found alive and well.

Tragic.

"Disappeared" - Hopefully she still lives, and that life remains, as yet, untainted by physical interference. (Scarily, the little girl may otherwise wish she was dead.)

3-Do you think the authorities will be able to find her?
Apparently the official ground search has now been called off, but her parents are resolved to continue their own search.

See 3 above

Not only "No," but "HELL NO!"

6-Do you think Maddy's parents were irresponsible for leaving their children alone?
Not only "Yes," but...

My theories:
  1. Someone or someones in the hotel saw the parents leave the hotel and informed whomever alledged abducted the child of this; the former may have informed the alledged abductor when the parents had made their most recent check on their children;
  2. Someone or someones in the restaurant recognised the parents and noted the absent children - the parents may even have been indiscrete about their children's whereabouts and caretaking, if any - and somehow discovered their lodgings and informed the abductor then...as above. Again, the former may have notified the alledged abductor when the parents had made their most recent check on their children;
  3. Someone or someones connected with either or both the hotel and the restaurant then...as above

Re: Search for Madeleine

You see, peados hang around these hot spots cause loads of Brit holidayers go to Spain/Portugul with their kids. I would have been EXTRA careful because of this. The hotel should have had babysitters that you can hire, I know hotels here that do it. No point crying over spilt milk, what could have been different. Just pray for her return alive, I still think she's alive but I think if she's not returned soon, she'll be found dead somewhere

The police and our "Guardia Civil" are also doing a lot of research here in Spain.

Re: Search for Madeleine

I really feel for the parents in this whole affair. Lots of people are pointing the finger, and saying things like 'how could they leave the child alone'. Its all very easy for us to be wise after the event. Although Mrs E and I never left our children alone when on holiday, I could see how it would happen. Portugal is a beautiful place, and the people are very laid back, the sunshine, the setting etc. The parents guard would be down , and they probably thought ' it's OK, this is a safe place, that sort of thing couldn't happen here'. And lets not forget, that they weren't far away and they were checking their kids on a regular basis.
I've seen how Portuguese people are with their children, they are very family orientated. In fact I would go as far as to say, that I don't believe that it was a Portuguese person who committed this offence ( although I can offer no evidence other than a gut feeling). I'm more inclined to believe it was a British pervert who was over there watching for just such an opportunity. If we think back to the child ( Ben Needham)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/liv...n_page_id=1770
who was snatched in the Greek Islands many years ago, his parents were only in the other room whilst he was playing outside. Its really that easy for children to go missing. Perverts plan these things meticulously. Robert Black ( the notorious sex offender) used a big van , all equipped ( tape, rope etc) to snatch children. He watched, waited, opened the door and bundled them in. What chance does a little mite have against a 20 stone pervert? One minute there, the next minute gone. As for the Portuguese police, I believe that they are doing the best they can. They don't have as much experience as we do in Britain ( or US), and that is because this sort of thing doesn't happen over there as much as it does over here. Our police are good at this sort of thing because we have much more opportunity to try and detect these sorts of crimes. We have plans and procedures ready to go into action when it occurs. I sincerely hope they find the child..but time is dragging on, and it doesn't look good.

Re: Search for Madeleine

Irresponsible is far to harsh a word, they chose the hotel specifically for the security and location of the adult entertainment in relation to the childs room and checked regulary. Quite frankly I think its fucking pathetic the way some people are laying the blame on the parents.

As with most cases when something bad happens to a child the finger of blame usually points to the parents. Examples I can think of off the top of my head the James Bulger murder, Ellie Lawerence being savaged by a pitbull and the horendoues case of the 12 week old baby being raped whilst in the care of babysitters. I think it is a way of reassuring ourselves when something goes wrong that it couldn't possibly happen to us. Whoever snatched that child specifically went after her that much is clear. There were other children at the resort who were left sleeping while thier parents ate and although her parents actions gave the bastard who kidnapped her the window of oppertunity to do so it was more down to (God help us) bad luck than anything else.

Anyway in conclusion may he who has not sinned cast the first stone.

Sky News has learnt that Briton Robert Murat is being treated as a formal suspect by police investigating the abduction of four-year-old Madeleine McCann.

"There is a suspect," in the case, a spokeswoman for the judicial police confirmed.

Mr Murat was questioned with two other people yesterday and released last night.

Mr Murat lives with his mother in a villa 100 metres from the apartment where Madeleine was abducted. The building was sealed off and searched yesterday morning.

The Portuguese police now consider Robert Murat to be an "Arguido" which translates as a formal suspect. That means he is considered a suspect but can remain at liberty.

Crime correspondent Martin Brunt said: "Mr Murat's mother, Jenny, says he was released some time overnight.

"He is now staying with friends. She has advised him not to go back to their villa at Praia da Luz..

the simple solution is not to go to the butchers shop before going on a night out! Best to go home first and put your kidneys in the fridge. I knew a guy who had two lamb chops stolen when he went out for a pint. Mind you, he didn't get home for over a week, and his wife said " where's the lamb chops you went out for a week ago"? My mate says" dunno, someone must have stolen them".

True story.

Yep, it seems.

New hope: Police in Malta are investigating a string of five possible sightings of Madeleine McCann on the Mediterranean island. There has been a reported five alleged sightings of a girl that "looks like Maddie." The Guardian newspaper said a blonde girl who resembled the 4-year-old missing girl was reportedly spotted by a British couple.

Re: Search for Madeleine

The parents behaviour when leaving the two babes and little Maddie alone strikes me as rather odd to put it mildly. And media contrived images of them strolling around hand in hand, meeting the Pope etc arouse in me nagging feelings of anger and contempt.
