Re: Remember That Night

I bought the two-disc version yesterday and it's a pretty good package. Apart from preferring the version of SOYCD on his last concert DVD, I'd give it 5 thumbs out of a possible 6.3 thumbs available.

Re: Remember That Night

Great DVD. Excellent sound, superb mix, and some outstanding performances, most notably on Echoes. Gilmour is in top form and Rick Wright simply never played this well in the last 30 years. And it's very, very well. The selection of songs leaves room for a few complains though: Coming Back To Life has been released on two DVDs already, did we need another one when we left out the rare and precious Wearing The Inside Out??? Even Wots Uh The Deal would have been a better choice... a less obvious (and overplayed) one to say the least.
Anyway, disc 2 supplies all of the leftovers, even if Nick Mason appearence is still nowhere to be seen.
But this doesn't mean this isn't a fantastic DVD. The OAI songs are generally improved over the studio versions, the documentaries are interesting and funny and revealing of some more intimate moments (the Gilmour and Waters meet, Rick's birthday) and the Gilmour + Wright duo is the closest thing to Pink Floyd we can listen to these days.

Awesome version, indeed.

I think I might wait for the Blu-ray disc.

Re: Remember That Night

I have to agree with the North American in the respect that I actually don't think the visual quality is quite what it could be, frankly.

Re: Remember That Night

Heh. Sometimes, in certain points, a bit "grainy", in fact. But on the other hand I don't care for Blu-ray nor HD-DVD for that matter... not for the next couple of years - at least.

Re: Remember That Night

Just started watching it, and while it could be better visually, the important thing is that it sounds amazing, and it does. David Gilmour is the man! I've been waiting for this DVD to come out since I saw him in March of last year, and I'm just happy that I finally have it.

Re: Remember That Night

I am quite a Roger fan, and for the record, didn't care much for "On an Island" but, WOW! This DVD is really phenomenal. David really puts on a great show, it's loaded with extras, and it has "Echoes"! That last fact alone makes it worth it. Rick looks and sounds better than he has in years, too. It's obvious how much fun the band are having and the results are right there. Very much an essential purchase for anyone who might be on the fence.

Re: Remember That Night

Great performance by Dave and his mates. Echoes is unreal.Crosby&Nash make it more special. Not Floyd but half of them. Sorry Dave didn't come to Philadelphia. Thanks Dave! O well I got to see Roger anyway.

Well that didn't stop me, I flew up to NYC to see him.

And trust me, Dave is better in concert, I saw them both last year.

Re: Remember That Night

I picked up the DVD yesterday, and was only able to watch Disk 1 last night. Like others on this thread, I was disappointed with some of the non-HD cameras (grainy), but also like the others, I love the sound!

It really took me back to the Radio City Music Hall show I saw - with Nash and Crosby. I think BDG's band sounds great...and Echoes is a visual and musical masterpiece. The flashing lights were stunning to see live, and the DVD captured that effect.

Can't wait to watch Disk 2 tonight - I'm gonna crank it up after the kids go to bed...

In all likelihood, this was his last tour. If he has any intentions of touring again, he hasn't given any hints.

He mentioned that he wants to do another album, so I guess another tour is likely to happen. "Soon" is a word a bit out of place in the Floyd universe.

This is what he said in an interview with Rolling Stone:

Q: So if you’re going to do another solo record, we have a few years to wait?
A: Well, not too long — not as long as the last time, and that’s twelve years, which is a little excessive.
