"The man's voice, though not always in the right key, is one of a kind. Listen to the heart felt emotion spilling out in the Final Cut and the anger spilled in Not Now John."

Actually, I think it's Dave Gilmour singing on "Not Now John". The singing just doesn't sound like Roger.

BTW, if it is Gilmour, play it for everyone who says he sings with no emotion.

Re: My tear stained eyes

The info page for "The Final Cut" says that Waters does the "Make em..." part of the song, and Gilmour is the first credited vocal for the song, presumably meaning that he's the lead.

Yes I am a Rage fan. But seriously, do you really know what Zach is saying? I don't. I just apreciate Tom's guitar work.

Maybe not, but, um, they're still political, I think... Yeah, Tom is Rage.

Re: My tear stained eyes

Let's return to the original topic if you don't mind.
The Final Cut is THE BEST Roger post-Floyd song imho. Period.
I'm not the greatest Roger fan, but I must admit that this very song set shivers down the spine every time I hear it. I don't like the album, but it is a must only for this one song. Great, just brilliant. Absolute fave of mine.
And...another thing. EVERYONE WHO'S SAYING DAVE SINGS WITH NO EMOTIONS JUST DOESN'T HAVE AN EAR. OR JUST PLAIN DEAF.

Re: My tear stained eyes

It may be one of the best...but the BDG's guitar work makes me terribly wistful. Half the sound is there...half is missing. I always get this impulse to play "The Final Cut" on the piano and try to repair or restore it. Sometimes I have actually tried it. I make a lot of technical mistakes...but I feel honestly that there was so much more emotionally that could've been done with the piano work.

Which is why, of course, I grow wistful when I hear that.

Re: My tear stained eyes

TFC is brilliant for pure emotion. Pity that DG didn't get much of a look-in, though, his solos add so much to the music.

And yes I agree that DG can sing with emotion (also in What Do You Want From Me?) so Rog no longer has the monopoly over tugging the heartstrings. They just influence emotions differently.

Re: My tear stained eyes

No one can scream like Roger though. UmmaGumma version of Careful With That Axe really AMPS at high volume. I bet the cops would've got a few calls about that...
