iPhone...Pro or Con!!!

comes out this Friday at 6pm est in USA...i've heard a few negative things about it and i'm uncertain if i'm going to take the plunge...

500 US dollars for 4 gig and 600 for 8 gig,plus 2 year contract...

You sure that they'll even bother with Canada? Do they have mobile phones there? Or is it just crazy French wannabees speaking into tin cans and making le wish?

You're wrong...every review I've read is huge, and I expect it to replace regular iPods in a generation or two.

For me, the two things that will have to change is carrier exclusivity (AT&T is not who I want) and internal storage (I want it to replace my iPod). Besides that, first gen electronics is usually a bad idea...buggy and whatnot (and I'm sure it'll take some fine-tuning).

The only thing that kinda makes me leery about the whole thing is that if something were to happen, not only do I lose my phone but also my music player.

I think combining these things is kinda dumb. Multi functionality is great, but the trouble is that since it replaces everything else - if something goes wrong; you're screwed.

I am fascinated with the touch screen though - mightily.

i'm a bit of a momentum trader...about a 1 1/2 years ago i bought AAPL in mid 50's,after it rose 6 % i took my profit and moved on to another stock...today it's what about 130 bucks a share...

according to the podcast i've been listening to the last week or so,they had to use a carrier that had the technology for when they ramp up to Europe and Asian markets...the two only U.S. carriers that fit the criteria are AT & T/Cingular ant T Mobile...

There you have it, an unbiased report from a site called "who-sucks".

After posting that, I ended up reading an interview with Jobs reguarding that. So, although it doesn't change the fact that it's a major detractor for me at the point, I can't put Apple at fault for that. I just hope that by the time I'm in the market for something like that (a year or so), that my provider will be compatible for iPhone service.

The iPod is an overpriced, underachieving peice of decoration, so I expect the same from the iPhone. Give it a year and there will be better phones at lower prices out there, but until then, the sheep will have their way.

Personal opinion only, but it seems like just another vanity toy for yuppies (like the Hummer)

I've never liked buttons that you can't feel being pressed. Tactile response is a must for these fingers.

I'm quite happy with my N70, truth be told. It does pretty much ev'rything that I want it to, so...

I'm sure that, at some time, I'll get sucked into it but for now, I'm quite happy to disregard the fruit on the tree.
