For the first time yesterday... See, all through my life so far - I've never splurged on myself. I satisfied myself with $20 shoes (though they weighed a ton each) rather than spend $60 for a pair of light weight sneakers. Wore "hand me downs" from my brother well into my teens. Stretched out my pair of jeans till they were threadbare before buying new ones. Nothing brand name - just generic (I take pride in the fact that my entire ward robe can fit inside a suitcase - everything from socks to suits). Didn't buy a cell phone till I turned 20. Always took the bus or train rather than a cab... Get the picture, right? I've always had my "wants Vs needs" argument down pat. The rationale I gave myself was that my parents worked like slaves and I felt guilty spending Father's money. Even though my parents wanted me to, I always hedged and hemmed and hawed. Well, yesterday - for the first time - I "splurged" on myself. I signed the dotted lines, paid the down payment, signed a loan and bought myself: ![]() ![]() A 2007 Honda Civic EX coupe. And I bought it with my earnings and savings too! Boy o boy! It's a BIG change from my old '95 Plymouth Neon! No more "2 by 40" air conditioning (2 windows rolled down driving at 40 mph Not just a radio - but a CD player! And it plays MP3 as well! And the music system adjusts volume automatically based on how fast you're going The drive back from the dealership was awesome! For the first time in years, my right leg didn't cramp up because I had cruise control! No more constant "foot on the gas" - no siree bob! I push a button and I can drive from the steering wheel! I'm just sitting here all google eyed and going "oooh" and "aah" over it while giggling like a little kid A part of me still feels weird - I've never done anything like this for myself before A part of me is worried - will I be able to make the payments? What if get a ding or scratch? How much will that set me back by? So on and so forth.... But this other part of me hits the gas pedal and just goes "Wheeeee!" Photos later, I promise

Re: For the first time yesterday... Now, that is nice. It really changes volume based on how fast you are going? That's pretty ingenius.

Re: For the first time yesterday... What sort of gas mileage does it get? I felt the same way when I bought my American Strat. Right now I'm driving a 97 Toyota Camry. Someday I'll have a nice car.
