I just do not think people would pay $27 for a single CD, even one with the merits of Broken China! I mean, you can buy ITAOT with that (or come very close)!

New avatar, and a question I got an avatar...this is cool! ![]() I'm wondering about it, though...I believe this symbol is also the mathematical "null-set" symbol as well as the statistical "impossible event". Any serious guesses as to why Mr. Thorgerson chose this to be the symbol of Broken China ?

maybe because he thought it would be impossible for anyone to like the album.

Naughty, naughty! But really, Mr. Thorgerson seems to design very carefully...I wonder what he was thinking?

I think that the "null-set" is a very good symbol for depression. One feels empty and he can do almost nothing.

That makes good sense. I wonder if there is also an element of contradiction involved? Here are a couple of examples of ways to get the null set or impossible event: Solving a system of equations and winding up with something like this-- 1=2. Therefore the answer is the null set. Conducting an experiment such as a coin-toss and ending up with a result that is simultaneously heads and tails, or somehow neither. That is the impossible event. Any thoughts about where (if anywhere) that might lead?

Are you Canadian, FloydWright? I got my Broken China for like 15 bucks, which is only about $10 American! You'll have to come to Calgary sometime- there's an HMV that has some really cheap, out-of-print CDs.
