MISSING GUITAR BRIDGE FROM PIGS ON THE WING 1 and 2!!

In 1978 I bought Animals brand-new on 8-track and was astounded.
I sold my car a while after that and realized that I had left my tape in the 8-track player when I sold it. So I bought another copy on cassette tape and thought that was cool - until I realized that Pigs on the Wing was now Pt 1 at the beginning of side 1 and Pt 2 and the end of side 2. ON THE 8-TRACK, PIG ON THE WING WAS ONE SONG WITH A 12 OR 16 BAR LEAD BREAK BY GILMOUR BETWEEN THE 2 VERSES. ON THE CASSETTE TAPE, THE SONG WAS SPLIT AS PART 1 AND PART 2 WITH NO LEAD AT ALL. I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST.
PF FANS I'VE TALKED TO SAY THEY DON'T BELIEVE ME, BUT I KNOW I'M NOT CRAZY. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE AN OLD ANIMALS 8-TRACK THAT CAN VERIFY THIS? I'D LOVE A COPY, NO MATTER HOW DILAPIDATED IT IS.
PLEASE LET MET KNOW. THANX, LEE

I edited out your email address to save you some spam hassles.

Yes, it's true. The 8-track version is longer. I don't remember the details, but I think it might have been Snowy White, not DG.

No idea where to find a copy, and my 8-track player broke last year, anyway. You might find some satisfaction out in ROIO land.

It was by Snowy.

It can be heard on Snowy's "Goldtop" album, which I have.

PM me your email address, Lee, and I'll send it to you.

Re: MISSING GUITAR BRIDGE FROM PIGS ON THE WING 1 and 2!!

The Goldtop remix, while it is hands-down one of my favourite Floyd tracks, differs slightly from the original version on the 8-track cartridge: the original has double-tracked acoustic guitar throughout, a few extra notes of double-tracked electric lead guitar during the solo, and less "presence" overall. It also has the outro noises from "Sheep" like the regular "part two" version does, and leads straight into "Dogs" a la "part one"! How cool is that?

I love 8-tracks... just picked up a Q8 copy of Janis Joplin's Pearl. "Me and Bobby McGee" in frickin' quadraphonic!

Re: MISSING GUITAR BRIDGE FROM PIGS ON THE WING 1 and 2!!

I realize this thread is a few months old. But, I have a good clean original 8 track version of Pigs On The Wing parts 1 and 2 with the Snowy White guitar solo bridge. Botley is correct, the Goldtop version is slightly different.

Don't worry about resurrecting old threads. Around here it is preferable to creating new duplicates.
