no doubt : Careful with that axe, Eugene (Ummagumma version). It's so f***in powerful when waters screams... have u ever seen his face in the live at pompeii ? damn !

by the way, does anyone have the lyrics of 'merry Xmas song' ? i'm french and i don't understand everything... if u don't have it, just ask, i can send the mp3.

thanx

Echoes - it has everything. Lovely melody, great intro and a tremendous guitar solo.

Time and Shine on are also up there.

Comfortably Numb.

The live version on DSOT has Dave's finest guitar solo ever put on tape or CD. I like this version because it is more the way Dave intended it to be - slower and more bite to the verses to contrast the melodic refrain. Dave's solo still makes me stop doing whatever I'm doing and listen to it.

I also think that DSOT CN is better then Pulse. Just that it's more close to the original while still offering more as a song.

PULSE should've had a faster tempo,DSOT version of CN is still ok,but the solo on PULSE is arranged better, you know,no you don't?

'It would be so nice' and 'Corporal Clegg' (i can't choose one, sorry)

Then for a close 2nd there's a tie with 'Time' ,'In the flesh', 'Bike', 'The post war dream' and 'Astronomy domine'

Red face

I don't know if I could honestly pinpoint the "best" song they've ever done.. that's like trying to locate a specific needle in a bundle of.. needles..

BUT. If you glued my body to a chair and proceeded to tie me up and THEN put a gun to my head, I might pick Echoes or Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Or Time. Or Us and Them. Or .. f*ck, nevermind.

You can't make me choose because you don't have a gun.

P.S.(O.T.) - I just noticed I've been here since April this year and I've posted once. Peculiar.

I admire everyone who does have a vision of the best Pink Floyd song. For me it's not possible. I only go through phases, and play certain albums, or songs that feel right for that day, or month. It's really difficult for me to say which one is the best...I simple cannot do it.
