The Wall: Fighting Flowers and movie

Hi,

I'm working on a analysis of The Wall, and the movie. But I just can't figure out what the fighting flowers symbolise. I know they're mating at first, and then fighting but what has this got to do with the lyrics? Does anyone know a good site with info about the movie, an analysis or something like that?

Thanks

For shame, watered! That you could send a new visitor to someone ELSE'S website!

Worse yet, to one with a most dodgy analysis of The Wall - if the views of those here, including my own, are anything to go by - without first recommending one from the wealth of threads (270 on Thread Title search of "The Wall") languishing here.

Tsk tsk, and tut tut.

The Wall overrated?

Byron, your links appear to be semi-broken.

Sorry! You're right Byron. I was a bit lazy yesterday to do any search within this site .

And welcome aboard Thought-controle!

IMO, this scene represents sexual intercourse as something pretty and desirable in the beginning but ugly and self-destructive in the end. Pinky begins to build his wall because he is afraid of the outside and the others, and sexual intercourse is the pinnacle of "interacting" with another person.

Hmmm...Yes, it appears using the link function doesn't work anymore, or I am definitely doing something wrong.

I manually found the same URLs as listed above which work while I am logged on here, but seem not to afterwards.

Sorry for the semi-bad links, but Search is a marvelous function to discover for oneself.

You appear to have put the text to your link (e.g. 'The Wall Analysis') inside the url bit of the link as well as outside— It's trying to go to 'http://www.pinkfloydfan.net/t7513-the-wall-analysis.htmlThe Wall Analysis' whereas the url should end after .html.

It's true what you say. I DID forget to remove the Thread titles from the ends of the listed URLs, but try and get a Mod to alter it for you this side of the next century is perhaps asking too much.

Since it requires, y'know, actually asking. Still waiting for your reply on that other little matter.

Don't make me come over there.

Re: The Wall: Fighting Flowers and movie

Ta very much, Mod T. I thought I DID ask...albeit in a most indirect, but highly public fashion.

As to the other...

Get thee behind me! It's unfeasible...

BTW, The Flower scene has always been my favourite part of the film. That, and the Empty Spaces/What Shall We Do Now sequence.

Oh yeah!

Re: The Wall: Fighting Flowers and movie

I felt the flower scene was symbolism for relationships. In the movie, Pink's wife was having an affair on him while he was on the road. Obviously, that was greatly affecting him mentally and emotionally. So, I felt it showed his point of view how the relationship was beautiful and loving at first and then turned ugly and nasty later. He also was being hounded by the guilt of his mother who tried to protect him from being hurt by women.
