Wasted youth and talent.

An unnecessary shame. RIP Heath.

Re: Heath Ledger dead at 28...

people in and around the new Batman movie say that he so wrapped himself into the Joker character that it was scary...he has said he had to resort to narcotics (Ambian) so he could sleep...it appears to have been an accidental overdose...

maybe Mark Doyle can jump in here because he has a daughter about the same age, but, all HL could talk about was his little girl...it seem like every time that the paparazzi caught him walking around NYC he had the little girl with him...i don't think he would have wanted her to grow up without her father...

It's really awful, and I'm sure his family is devastated, but I'm most concerned about poor Terry Gilliam never being able to find work again. I was really looking forward to that movie.

Re: Heath Ledger dead at 28...

Sad news. I feel bad for his daughter.

On a side note - Ambien (Zolpidem Tartarate) is not a narcotic. And individuals have recovered from doses as high as 400 mg (40 times the recommended doseage). I doubt his death was caused solely by Ambien overdose (Zolpidem is a hypnotic and rarely causes CNS depression to the point of affecting cardiovascular fuction). For what we know, it could be something as mundane as alcohol.

I politely disagree. I thought that he completely mopped the floor with Jake G. in Brokeback Mountain, and my immediate reaction to that film was that I'd had no idea how good Heath Ledger was before.

I was thinking more of his performance in AI.

You're thinking of Robin Williams.
