Have a listen. Yeah, its exact for enough time to match it perfectly to what do you want from me...I noticed this when it forst came on and for a few seconds i thought wdywfm was re-relaeased on D.Bell...then it diversified away from the D.Bell song and became another track i liked quite alot...I think on reflection and i dont mean to stray from the original subject, that About Face was alot more 80's ish...i like it alot though...like i like the D.Gilmour album alot.... |

| Re: Gilmour's First Solo Album why does Dave's work or any other band memebers solo work have to sound floydish?..I mean c'mon they release a solo effort because they want it to be different from the work they have done together...its like saying... "oh it would ahve been a bit better if Nick was on the drums and Rick was on the synth and Rog on the bass" .....would that not be another floyd album?....its the same thing surely..for it to be solo it cant sound like the floyd...but then (this is long) its a bit like isolating each members piece's to a recording of a floyd album and releasing the ideas separatley on different albums with the members' own titles...the BIG question would be...could anyone tell what band member was what if their name wasn't on the front cover and it was only instrumental..I think the only person to be I.D'd would be Dave since he has his own style, but you'd be hard done to get it on the first playback still...as for Nick and Rick.....it would depend how you lean when it comes to the floyd...those who's ears are tuned for the drums will have picked out a Mason style like Gilmours guitar stlye and the same for Wright's keyboard fluency and patterns....the fan who buys magazines like "Synthesizer World**" and "Korg and Kurzweil for the lay musician***" will pick out Wrights's own talent.......the bottom line is, if a band member releases a solo album, if theyre good, it will sound brilliant, but also unlike the band from which they came..in other words its like apples and oranges...they're both enjoyable but they taste different*... *based on a quote by Stephen King-interviewed on the film Stand By Me/extra features/DVD format/region 2. ** & *** I dont think these titles exist, they are spoof titles of half the unthinkable magazine titles we find on our newsagent shelves today.. |

| Re: Gilmour's First Solo Album I just recently purchased this album and I really do like it, although it doesn't really have any MUST LISTEN songs....but a very solid album overall... Still, I like a couple songs on an album that come up and kick you in the nutz and don't let go for 4 and a half bloody minutes and you're begging for more...and this album is probably lacking in that....like Dogs....man were my nutz aching after that one....great song!

| Re: Gilmour's First Solo Album I bought the album when it was released. It does sound Floydish in places because he is the main voice and guitar in PF. It is very good but not one of the greatest albums. It is pretty impressive. That boy can play a bit. |
