Re: Paintbox

Did Rick Wright sing Paintbox or did he just write the lyrics for the song? I really like the singing and am curious as to who it is.

Re: Paintbox

There's no indication he didn't write the lyrics. Besides--it sounds like him, and all the things I identify with him for...it's just not anybody else's temperment.

Re: Paintbox

I think that is the best Floyd voice. It is so smooth.. very pleasant to listen to.

Re: Paintbox

Yeah...Mr. Gilmour can do the same thing sometimes, kind of. Think "Fat Old Sun". But other times he can get a gravelly, almost growly sound on certain songs! Think "The Nile Song". I kind of admire that vocal versatility--but for sheer pleasantness to listen to, as well as for my ability to sing along without offending myself ( )--Mr. Wright is the best!

Re: Paintbox

Somebody suggested he sounds a bit like Peter Gabriel. It's definitely not exact, by any means...but I can kind of hear that.

Yeah, I think even FW will admit Wright can't do Great Gig In the Sky for beans.

Re: Paintbox

Well, hey, he IS a guy! What do you expect?

I'd be happy to sing it for him...
