Tim Russert passes away!!!

Buffalo native and host of Meet The Press has passed away at age 58...indeed a sad day for Buffalo in losing a native son and the Bills biggest fan...in ironic twist he died 2 days before Fathers Day after writing two books related to Fathers...

oops...just noticed I put this in wrong thread, meant to start thread with 1st line...

Re: What Did You Do Today?

I never watched Tim, nor any TV news programs for that matter, but I know he was the closest thing to "fair" in the American Media. Now we're left with idiots like Keith Olbermann and Chrissie (my leg tingles!) Matthews to pick up the baton. NBC is doomed. And it's about time.

From all I hear, Russert was a good man. RIP, Tim.

Re: What Did You Do Today?

As usual, I agree with stratman. I don't have any opinion on Tim Russert, and I am not familiar with his work. But from what I've heard, he was alright.

Initially, I thought it would be funny to say "did you mean to put this in the useless trivia thread?"

he was just a regular guy who treated the guy he met at a pub the same as some Washington bigshot...recently he was asked to speak at a charity function for a friend for $30,000...he said he would speak under one condition, the whole speaking fee went to the charity...

he was scheduled to attend his H.S. reunion this Friday, which he never missed...he was really one of the good guys...

People don't realize they're better free options out there. PBS and BBC News are excellent and make a better effort to maintain objectivity than any of the network/cable news services.
