| Re: What is "Rick's Turkish Delight"? Rick's Turkish Delight is not a single particular riff, but a "style" Rick used in late 60s-early 70s that is arabian or oriental-style lines of keyboard. One of them is on Set The Controls. I heard the name came from a TV advertising of something called "Fry's turkish delight".

| Re: What is "Rick's Turkish Delight"? Does he ever do it on Broken China? Even though it never really sounds Oriental.

| Re: What is "Rick's Turkish Delight"? It's hard to say, actually. Rick developed his style through the years and Pink Floyd changed their direction. I think the proper R'sTD hasn't been used in compositions after 1972. But many solos post-Dark Side are an evolution of that style though.

| Re: What is "Rick's Turkish Delight"? If you listen to "Keep Talking", you can hear something of an Eastern influence on the synthesiser solo. Cluster One, I can't recall any very obvious examples, but sometimes there's a way of bending the pitch between notes (the notes of the Western scale) that he uses, which may be an Eastern-influenced technique. I'll give the album a listen again tonight, and if I catch anything I'll let you know.

| Re: What is "Rick's Turkish Delight"? Since you brought this back, I heard an excerpt classical piece where the cello effect was very similar to that in "Unfair Ground". The similarity isn't constant, but almost gave me a chill in a few places. It is called "Spiral" by Chinery Ung, and according to what I read, it is intended to have an Asian influence. Western music tends not to have so much pitch-bending. Mr. Wright, however, uses a good deal of it. Perhaps that song shows some of it.
