Alf is a puppet character from an 80's television show in the US. He was supposed to be some sort of sarcastic alien life form. Recently he's made a come-back...if you can call it that...doing commercials for one of those 10-10 numbers to save on calls.

...and he sucks.

yeah very similar. douglas adams made two cameos in the fourth series of flying circus and co wrote one sketch also. he also wrote a sketch for the holy grail album also. just a bit of info. for you.

And he wrote "The Private Life of Genghis Khan", a short story in his new (posthumous) book "The Salmon of Doubt" with Graham Chapman from Monty Python.

And he came up with the name The Division Bell. And Gilmour played Wish You Were Here at his memorial service.
